Health Ministry Committee Work Plan

Parish Nurse: Parish nurses seek to bridge the gap between faith and health. This is accomplished through education, health counseling, pastoral care, volunteer coordination, health & community resource linkage, and advocacy—all built upon a spiritual foundation.

Part-time parish nurses at Our Savior’s are Becky Kneer, RN and Amy Whelan, RN. Please contact by email or leave a message at ext. 207.

Health and Care Ministry: OSL Health Ministry seeks to promote the well-being of our faith community by encouraging “individuals and groups to move toward the stewardship of health through education, health promotion, screenings, caring, healing and outreach.”

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Knitters and crocheters pray for the recipient as the needles create a beautiful shawl that brings both warmth and spiritual comfort. Prayer shawls are given to members and non-members in time of need as a reminder of God’s constant love and presence.

Healing Services: Periodically an opportunity for anointing with oil & healing prayer is offered at worship services.

Home Communion: Holy Communion is shared with shut-in members in their home or community setting by lay members.

Community Worship: Monthly services are held at Neighbors of Dunn County and Comforts of Home. Assistance from lay members welcome!

Blood Pressure Checks: Blood pressure checks are offered periodically between services in the Friendship Room.  (Currently suspended due to COVID)

Health Ministry Team: The Health Ministry Team helps plan and support ongoing Health Ministry programs at OSL and in our larger community. No professional health background is needed.

Global Health Ministries: Members travel to GHM, located in Fridley, MN several times per year, to volunteer in the warehouse sorting and packing medical items for shipment overseas.

To learn more or be involved in any our caring and health ministries, contact Becky Kneer, Parish Nurse or the church office.
